Final Exam Week: May 11 - 14

 

 

 

The final exam will be on Thursday, May 14, starting at 5:45 pm. 
There is no class meeting on Tuesday, May 12.  Stay home and study!

On the final, you will need to show your knowledge of what you learned in:

1.  Chapter 1 (the Be verb - am, is, are),
2.  Chapter 2 (the Have verb - have, don't have, has, doesn't have),
3.  Chapters 3, 4, and 5 (simple present and present progressive verb tenses), and
4.  Chapter 8 (simple past verb tense)

Review the chapters in the textbook and the practice exercises you completed in your workbooks also.

write 10 sentences in the past tense affirmative or negative to describe what you did or didn't do this past weekend.

1.  Finish Chapter 4 and begin Chapter 5

Homework due Tuesday, 4/21:

1.  Please complete all of the Practice exercises for Chapter 4 in the workbook.  Do Practice 1-8 (through page 64) for Chapter 5 in the workbook.

2.  In the textbook, please finish Exercise 3 p. 123 and Ex. 9 p. 128-9.

Reminder:  There is a test on Thursday, April 23, on Chapters 4 and 5.  Start reviewing!

Week 12

1.  Discuss the present progressive verb tense (Chapter 4)

Homework due Thursday, 4/9:
1.  On a separate piece of paper, write 10 sentences in the present progressive to describe what you or the people around you are doing at that moment.
For example:
I am doing my homework.  My husband is watching TV.  My children are playing a game.  Our dog is walking towards my children.  Now he is sitting down next to my son. etc.
2.  In the workbook, please complete pages 51-54.

Homework due Tuesday, 4/14:

1.  On a separate piece of paper, write questions and short answers in the present progressive to describe 5 of the pictures (you choose which 5) on page 108 of the textbook.  Look at the example questions at the top of the page under Exercise 22.

2.  In the workbook, please complete pages 55-60

Tues. 3/31-Thurs. 4/2

In class, students will
1.  Practice simple present question forms.
2.  Review the verb Be and regular verbs in the simple present tense.

2. In the workbook, do Practice 14-18 on pages 6-8.

Important Note:  As it says on the syllabus, there is a test on Tuesday, February 3.  Please study pages 2-15 in the textbook and pages 1-8 in the workbook to prepare for the test.

In class, students will start Chapter 1 in the textbook.  They will:
