In class, students will:

1.  Practice questions in the simple present tense

1.  In the workbook, finish and check all the Practice exercises for Chapter 3

In class, students will:

1.  Review negative statements using the auxiliary verbs do/does on pages 70-1.

2.  Learn how to make simple present questions with do/does and review simple present questions with Be (am, is, are).

For homework due Thurs. 3/12:
1.  In the textbook, do Exercise
2.  In the workbook, do Practice 28- on pages 39-

In class, students will:

1.  Check answers for  Exercise 16 on pages 63-4.
2.  Discuss has, does, goes on pages 64-65.
3.  Learn about negative statements using the auxiliary verbs do/does on pages 69-70.

For homework due Tues. 3/10:
1.  In the textbook, do Exercises
2.  In the workbook, do Practice 17-27on pages 32-39

In class, students will:

1.  Start Chapter 3 on simple present tense and frequency adverbs.

For homework due Thurs. 3/5:
1.  In the textbook, do Exercise 16 on pages 63-4.
2.  In the workbook, do Practice 10-16 on pages 29-32.

In class, students will:

1.  Start Chapter 3 on simple present tense and frequency adverbs.

For homework due Tues. 3/:
1.  In the textbook, do Exercise 5 on page 57and  Ex. 7 pages 58-9.
2.  In the workbook, do Practice 1-9 on pages 24-28

In class, students will:

1.  Take Test 2 on textbook pages 18-48 and workbook pages

In class, students will:

1.  Complete Chapter 2 - This/That/These/Those and Who/What Questions with Be

For homework due Tues. 2/24:
1. In the workbook, finish all the Practice exercises in Chapter 2 (up to page 23).  Check your answers by looking in the back of the book.

2.  Study for Test 2 - The test will be on Tuesday, 2/24.  It will be on part of Chapter 1 (location prepositions) and all of Chapter 2.  Review all the Practice exercises in the Workbook - pages 9-23 and the Charts and exercises that we discussed in class from the textbook pages 18-48.

In class, students will:

1. Continue Chapter 2 - Questions with Be and using Have/Has

For homework:

1. In the textbook, finish Exercise 15 on pages 33-4, Exercise 17 on page 36, and Exercise 19 on page 37,

2. In the workbook, do Practice 16-20 on pages 19-21. 

In class, students will:

1.  Review the homework on pages 19, 21-22, & 23.

2.  Start Chapter 2 - Questions with Be and using Have/Has

For homework due Tues. 2/17:
1.  In the textbook, study do Exercise 9 on page 30 and Ex. 14 on page
2.  In the workbook, do Practice 10-15.

3.  On a separate piece of paper, write 20 sentences using the verbs Have (has, have) and Be (am, is, are) with possessive adjectives (my, your, his, her, our, their, its).  For example:

1.  My sister has a car.  2. Her car is blue.

3.  My husband and I have six cats and a dog.  4.  Our pets are friendly.

5.  Estrella Mountain Community College has a library.  6.  Its library is in Estrella Hall.

In class, students will:

1.  Review the homework on pages 19, 21-22, & 23.

2.  Start Chapter 2 - Questions with Be and using Have/Has

For homework due Thurs. 2/12::
 

1.  In the textbook, study Chart 2-5 on page 33 and do Exercise 15, do Ex. 17 p. 36, and do Ex. 19 p. 37.

2.  In the workbook, do Practice 1-9 on pages 12-16.

In class, students will:

1.  Review Test 1

2.  Practice the verb Be (am, is, are) with prepositions of location.

For homework due Tues. 2/10::
 

1.  In the textbook, do Exercise 25 page 19, study Chart 1-8 page 21 & do Ex. 28 pp. 21-22, and do Ex. 31 p. 23.

2.  In the workbook, do Practice 19-25 on pages 8-11 (finish all of Chapter 1).

In class, students will:

1.  Check the homework (Ex. 18 p. 13 & Exercise 20 p. 14.

2.  Practice the verb Be (am, is, are) in affirmative & negative forms to review before the test.
3.  Take Test 1.

For homework due Thurs. 2/5, students can:

Relax after this first test.

In class, students will continue Chapter 1 in the textbook.  They will:

1.  Check the homework on pronouns, negative, and contraction forms

2.  Practice the verb Be (am, is, are) with adjectives.

For homework due Tues. 2/3, students will:

1. In the textbook, Finish Exercise 18 on page 13 and do Exercise 20 on page 14.
2. In the workbook, do Practice 14-18 on pages 6-8.

Important Note:  As it says on the syllabus, there is a test on Tuesday, February 3.  Please study pages 2-15 in the textbook and pages 1-8 in the workbook to prepare for the test.

In class, students will start Chapter 1 in the textbook.  They will:

1.  Check the homework in the textbook.

2.  Discuss plural noun + are

3.  Discuss pronouns and contraction forms

For homework due Thurs. 1/29, students will:

1.  In the textbook, do Exercise 12 on pages 8-9.
2. In the workbook, do Practice 8-13 on pages 4-6.

In class, students will start Chapter 1 in the textbook.  They will:

1.  Ask and write sentences about where students are from and the locations of their countries. 

2.  Practice using the correct simple present subject-verb forms of the verb Be (am, is, are)

For homework due Tues. 1/27, students will:

1.  In the textbook, do Exercises   on pages
2. In the workbook, do Practice 1-7 on pages 1-3.

In class, students will:

1.  Discuss information on the course syllabus.

2. Discuss what nouns, pronouns, and verbs are.

For homework due Thurs. 1/22, students will:

1.  Buy the textbook and workbook Basic English Grammar
