Review - Coming to Arizona
 

This is it - your last written homework assignment!  For graded homework #10, please write a story about something good or happy that happened to you. Read the example paragraphs on pages 32, 43, and 53 of your textbook. When you write your story, be sure to:
1. Write on a 8 1/2 by 11 inch piece of paper.
2. Use dark pencil or a black pen.
3. Write your name, date, class (ESL012), and assignment number (Homework 10) in the upper right corner of the paper.
4. Write the title (A Happy Memory) of the assignment on the top line of the paper.
5. DOUBLE-SPACE!
6. Use a capital letter to begin each sentence.
7. Use a period to end each sentence.
8. Use the simple past tense.
9. Write between 100-120 words.
 

For the evening class, the Final Exam is on Monday, May 7, from 7:00 to 8:50 PM.  The time is different from  the usual class time.

For the day class, the Final Exam is on Wednesday, May 9, from 12:00 to 1:50 PM.  The
time is different from  the usual class time.

In class Monday, we'll read the story on page 74 of the textbook, and then complete the questions on page 75 and write 4-5 sentences on the lines provided at the bottom of page 75 about your own experiences and feelings after you came to the United States for the first time.  Then we'll read the story on page 17 about the first days at a new school, and you'll share your own experiences.
 

 For Graded Homework #9 titled "First Days", please write two paragraphs about your feelings on two different first days:  the first few days you were in the United States and the first day you attended school in the United States. What did you do?  What did you see?  What did you think or feel about what you saw?  Did anything surprise, confuse, excite, or disappoint you?   Read the example paragraphs on pages 17 and 74 of your textbook.

5.  Graded homework #3:  on a separate piece of paper, write a paragraph of 10 sentences or 100 words minimum to describe one of your friends.   Include information about what your friend looks like (height, weight, hair, eyes), your friend's personality, what kind of clothes your friend likes to wear, where you first met, what you like to do and talk about together, where your friend lives now, and any other information you would like to share.  Give this paper to Diane on Wednesday.  It is worth 25 points towards your final grade.
