Latest News from your College Implementation Team
There has been much progress toward the implementation of the New Student Information System. However there is still more work to be completed to ensure that the new SIS meets the needs of our students, employees and community. After consultation with the Colleges, District College Implementation Team (CIT), Project Oversight Group (POG), Information Technology Services, and PeopleSoft consultants, it was decided that Maricopa would go live with the new student system for all colleges and all system functions in October 2007.
It was also decided to move forward with PeopleSoft/Oracle version 8.9, which is a much more user friendly system. End users and students alike will find this version to be easier to navigate. Additionally, it will be more effective for self-service for students, faculty, and staff.
The College Implementation Team at Estrella Mountain will continue to work on our plans for training, implementation, and information dissemination so that we are prepared for all aspects of implementation. The college approach is to provide meaningful information in a timely manner to expose everyone to the concept and progress of the project.
The Estrella team remains committed to this project and will continue to work with the District to facilitate a smooth transition to the new system.
The New SIS (Student Information System) is a district wide effort to replace the current Student Information System. The Maricopa County Community College District intends to replace this legacy system and related shadow systems with a new system that possesses an innovative architecture and power tools will provide a viable and scalable information technology foundation for the future. This new system will also provide seamless processes for students within the Maricopa learning environment by converting from multiple databases to a single student database. The New Student Information System will be configured and implemented to enable effective and efficient one-stop Self-Service for Students through a collaborative, learner-focused process.
